Spooky Happenings at Mansion Open Days

Halloween 2010 cellarenchanted forestOver the weekend of 30 and 31 October 2010, Woodchester Mansion opened its cellars to those brave enough to descend.

Patricia, our chief Witch, presided over the happenings, sending many children on the Witches' trail to look for things that lazy witch Moaning Minerva had left around the Mansion, and there was face-painting as well as an enchanted forest and the witches larder well-stocked with body-parts. The graveyard attracted a lot of attention with many people being suspicious about entering - and rightly so as not a few left in a hurry when things in the gloom started to move!

With so many children of all ages in costume, it was good to see so many witches, skeletons and ghouls exploring the Mansion and enjoying picnics on the grassy area outside the mansion.

Hearty thanks to Sue for masterminding the whole event and to all of our Volunteers who helped in every way, both beforehand and during the weekend, to make the whole experience so enjoyable for everyone who visited the Mansion during our Halloween Weekend. Many thanks, also, to Zelah who came to the Mansion on Saturday morning as a visitor and left as a Volunteer, having been co-opted as a face-painter!
