Open Days & Minibus
Woodchester Mansion is normally open to the public every Friday, Saturday and Sunday from the beginning of April until the end of October. We also open on Bank Holiday Mondays.
NORMAL OPENING TIMES: 11am to 5pm – LAST TICKETS SOLD at 4pm. We close promptly at 5pm.
Subject to availability of volunteers, there will be guided tours at 11.45am and 2.30pm. Please take a tour if possible, as it enables visitors to fully understand the unique features of the Mansion. However, it is not ideal for children under 12.
When we are open a free minibus service for our visitors runs from the foot of the steps from the National Trust car park at Buckholt to the Mansion every hour on the hour, starting at 11am. The minibus goes up from the Mansion to the car park at a twenty minutes to the hour, last run at 4:40pm. The bus service is also subject to volunteer availability.
Note: The Buckholt car park is just off the B4066 at Coaley Peak – take the minor road signposted ‘Nympsfield’. We do not run a bus to the new Tinkley Gate NT car park.
The Mansion is in a secluded location and some visitors have difficulty finding us – please follow this link for directions.
Walking to the Mansion: the 3/4mile unmade country track to the Mansion provides a pleasant walk through the Cotswold beech woods and alongside pasture to the house. Turn right at the foot of the steps from the car park and follow the track down, ignoring both turnings to the left. You will not see the Mansion until you are about 200yds away. In poor weather be prepared for the track to be rough, wet, muddy and slippery.
Are you a disabled visitor? Please call 01453 861 541 several days in advance so we can make the best arrangements for you to get to the Mansion easily.
Please note: There is no mobile phone signal or public wifi at the Mansion.
DOGS are not allowed in the historic Grade I listed building.
