Gargoyles

Gargoyles throw rainwater clear of the building. Essential to assist in keeping the foundations dry, in a house built of permeable limestone, before damp courses had been invented, and in area with plenty of rainfall! Here you can see close-ups of some of the amazing carved stone creatures that both decorate the building and perform this useful function.
