‘The Tempest’

The professional Festival Players Theatre Company are accomplished performers of open-air Shakespeare. This year they’re visiting the Mansion again so we can all enjoy ‘The Tempest’,  acted in the traditional way by this all-male touring troupe of players. There is a concession to modernity in that the scenery does not come strapped to pack-horses, it’s all unloaded from a van by the cast who travel with it. The set incorporates their changing room and at the end of the performance the director, Michael Dyer, supervises packing the van up again (incidentally the van is old and the Players welcome donations towards a replacement).

You can watch the play seated on the grass outside the Mansion. The area by the front door is the stage, with a wonderful Gothic backdrop to the machinations of Prospero, Ariel and Caliban, and the love story of Miranda and Ferdinand. Bring your own picnic to enjoy before the performance or during the interval. Ice creams available in the Mansion.

Minibus from NT Buckholt car park available from 5:30pm and after the performance. Bring chairs and rugs and waterproofs if necessary!
