TV & Filming at the Mansion

Enquiries about hiring the Mansion for TV and filming are very welcome. The unfinished building offers a unique venue for a variety of productions. It is free of furnishings and presents a bare canvas to be dressed as required.

The Mansion is available any time between November and March, and Monday – Thursday inclusive from April to October. Weekends in the summer open season can be possible by advance arrangement.

Some recent productions at the Mansion are featured below. The staff are experienced at cooperating with different teams and are on-site to advise on working in the historic Mansion.

Please contact the site operations manager, Max Raven, max.raven@woodchestermansion.org.uk, for further information and to arrange a recce.

The Crown

The Mansion stood in as Gordonstoun School in series 2 of the acclaimed early part of the Netflix production. Filming took place on some damp and dreary November days which encapsulated the character-building philosophy of the famous school perfectly.

Celebrity Haunted Mansion Live

The experience of five nights of live TV was both stimulating and exhausting, with the added fascination of seeing the celebrities in action!

His Dark Materials

The Mansion was cast as Jordan College, Oxford, and featured right at the start of the first episode of the BBC TV adaption of Philip Pullman’s novel.

The bare old kitchen and laundry room in the north range of the Mansion were fully dressed by the production company Bad Wolf. Indeed, this film must hold the Woodchester record for the greatest number of props. They just kept on coming, van load by van load, and were swallowed up into the vastness of the Mansion.

The Mansion can also be hired for photoshoots and paranormal events.
