Stone Festival

Sat 8th & Sun 9th June 2024

Stone & Craft Festival with the Stonemasons’ Guild of St Stephen

Members of the ancient Stonemasons’ Guild of St Stephen from all over the world will be converging on Woodchester Mansion for a traditional Guild meeting from 8th-14th June.

Everyone is invited to the Mansion for the weekend of the 8th & 9th of June. There will be a STONE & CRAFT Festival, featuring

  • Stone carving displays – limestone & marble
  • ‘Have a go’ at carving for the public – short tasters
  • Arch construction
  • Carpentry demos
  • Building a masons’ lodge
  • Dry stone walling – demos and classes
  • Lime mortar demos
  • More TBC – watch this space as plans firm up!

In addition, there will be

  • Talks for adults
  • Storytelling for children
  • Static displays in the Mansion library

The adult talks programme will cover a range of craft related and historical topics. It will extend into the week 10-14 June. Some of these talks will be more technical, but the public may attend if they wish. They are also a great opportunity for CPD for crafts and tradespeople. The full programme and booking details will be available soon.

And, as at all good festivals, there will be

  • Food
  • Drink
  • Music
